Ophthalmology




Ophthalmology is the branch of medical science that focuses on the eye syndromes and diseases as well as the structure and functioning of the eye. The Ophthalmologist is the one who specializes in diagnosis and treatment of eye. The first ophthalmic surgeon was named as oculist. An ophthalmologist and its respective disciplines have been at the forefront of medical revolution and have encircled the rapid progresses in various technologies which includes pharmacology, imaging, data processing and medical devices. An ophthalmologist undergoes all intensive and extensive studies related to the disorders and diseases of eye and also perform all types of ophthalmic surgeries. Many ophthalmologists are also involved in scientific investigations and are in the urge to make new evolution in the field of Ophthalmology.
